Carolina Stem Challenge: Biofuels Kit

Students explore the production of ethanol biofuel by investigating the effect of enzymes and temperature on the breakdown of starch. Next, they design and build a reaction chamber that will allow the production of ethanol by yeast fermentation and also allow the carbon dioxide gas produced to be measured. This high school engineering design challenge includes enough materials for 8 lab groups. Carolina Kits 3DLab activity that supports NGSS and 3-dimensional instruction.
